Midwinter

"I had a dream, which was not all a dream.
The bright sun was extinguish'd, and the stars
Did wander darkling in the eternal space...."

-Lord Byron, "Darkness."

Lovely quote.

I was thinking the other day about how when we look at the sky, we imagine such intimacy up there, between the stars, because from our vantage point they crowd and relate to one another, literally, figuratively. But in reality they are as far from one another as we are far from them.

So true, and so beautifully put. Like people in a crowd.

And as far from one another as we humans are so often from each other.
