Inalienable facts of life

I was driving down the road once when I saw my ex-boyfriend walking along the train tracks. We hadn't spoken in quite some time, but I pulled over and rolled down my window. “I had to stop,” I said. “You looked so sad.”

“Everybody looks sad when they’re walking along train tracks,” he said.
